Following an extensive investigation, it was determined that the individual involved on March 28th had been the targeted victim of a prior robbery committed by multiple individuals, according to Bayonne Police Sgt. Kenneth Drago.

During that incident, the victim discharged a firearm in the direction of those responsible as they fled the area. The firearm used in the incident was later recovered by responding officers.

A 17-year-old juvenile, and Educarry Mcghie, 19, of Bayonne, were each charged with robbery in connection to this incident.

Another 17-year-old juvenile was charged with three counts of attempted criminal homicide, causing or risking widespread injury, receiving stolen property, possession of certain bullets, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, possession of a handgun, and possession of a defaced weapon, authorities said.

Subsequently, detectives identified ongoing disputes between the involved parties, which ultimately led to a separate incident on March 31st.

While on surveillance for the suspected shooter, detectives observed multiple individuals forcibly compel two juveniles to enter a vehicle, where they removed personal property from them, and began to transport them against their will.

Believing a kidnapping had occurred, detectives immediately initiated a motor vehicle stop. The victims were safely recovered, and four individuals were taken into custody and charged with robbery and kidnapping.

As the investigation continued, an additional individual was taken into custody in connection with the original shooting incident, as well as related criminal activity during the March 31st incident. That individual has been remanded to a juvenile detention facility.

George Finley, 18, Zhmar Trowell, 22, Elhadji Doumboya, 18, all of Bayonne, and Keshon Roe, 21, of Jersey City, were all charged with two counts of robbery.

Finley and Roe were also charged with conspiracy to commit kidnapping, while Trowell and Doumboya are also accused of two counts of kidnapping. Further, Doumboya was allegedly in possession of cocaine and charged accordingly.

Finally, a 17-year-old juvenile is charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.

At this time, additional charges are pending against other identified individuals involved in the initial robbery.

This investigation remains active and ongoing and thus far detectives have confirmed these incidents were not random acts of violence and the victims were targeted.

“I would like to commend the members of the Patrol Division for their quick response and initial on-scene investigation, which resulted in the arrest of one of the suspects and
the removal of a firearm from the streets,” Police Chief Joseph Scerbo said in a statement.

“I would also like to thank the members of the Investigative Division who worked diligently and expeditiously to identify the suspects involved leading to their subsequent arrests.”
