Officers retrieved a blood-soaked beanie following the fatal shooting of a 7-month-old baby girl in Brooklyn on Wednesday, April 2, a devastating tragedy that has rattled the surrounding community.
An individual of interest is currently being questioned in police custody, as NYPD and FDNY personnel were spotted swarming Moore and Humboldt streets in East Williamsburg, New York, where the tragedy unfolded shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.
The heartbreaking shooting occurred just steps away from a local daycare facility. The baby’s mother had been pushing the stroller when gunshots rang out, prompting her to flee into a nearby bodega for safety, reports Daily Express US.

Law enforcement officials are searching for two suspects who were seen fleeing the area on a black moped traveling down Humboldt Street.
One person was seen firing a weapon from the back of the moped while the operator controlled the vehicle. The moped was later found deserted multiple blocks away from the location.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani called the incident a “tragedy” during remarks at a childcare-focused press conference this afternoon.
“It was a tragedy that this baby was shot and killed, and soon after this press conference, I will be joining the police commissioner to brief the media and the public. Our heart breaks for this family,” Mamdani said.
