Meghan Markle was reportedly not allowed to be with the royal family for Queen Elizabeth II‘s final moments.
According to Tom Bower‘s book Betrayal, Prince Harry was told that his wife was not welcome to join him as he said his final goodbye to his grandmother before her September 2022 passing.
“When King Charles III heard that Meghan intended to come, he called Harry. That was unacceptable, said Charles,” the author wrote in a passage obtained by HELLO!.

“Since Meghan had refused the Queen’s invitations to Balmoral in the Queen’s lifetime, she was unwelcome at her death,” Bower claimed. “Sharing his grief with Meghan, who maligned the monarchy, was unthinkable, said Charles.”
“He [Charles] believed that, to her dying day, his mother was shocked by Harry’s disloyalty,” the journalist added.
Harry was reportedly “outraged” by his father’s demand. “Charles ended their argument by revealing that Kate [Middleton] would not be coming, so Meghan had not been picked on,” Bower wrote.

“Still fuming, Harry discovered that [Prince] William, who was unwilling to wait any longer, had ordered the plane to take off,” he alleged.
In Susan Page‘s upcoming book, The Queen and Her Presidents: The Hidden Hand That Shaped History, she claimed the late matriarch was not a fan of the With Love, Meghan star.
“Her Majesty had become wary of Meghan as an opportunist — was ‘on to her from the start,’ the aide said — and one with public relations skills that left the palace’s outdated press operation in the dust,” the author wrote via Fox News Digital.
Hugo Vickers alleged in his new book, Queen Elizabeth II: A Personal History, that Elizabeth wouldn’t even speak with Harry on the phone without a witness present after he and Meghan left England.

“The distress the Sussexes caused the Queen in the last years of her life cannot be overestimated,” the journalist wrote in a passage obtained by Page Six.
“Whenever Prince Harry called his grandmother, she asked her lady-in-waiting to stay with her,” Vickers claimed.
