The New York Jets (1-7) had gone seven weeks without knowing what a win felt like after beginning the season with too many mistakes and ineptitude for the team to overcome. With New York visiting the Cincinnati Bengals (3-5) on Sunday, the Jets had another opportunity to give head coach Aaron Glenn his first win as a head coach and his players came through for him.

The Jets beat the Bengals 39-38 after piling up 502 yards of offense against a Cincinnati team that has struggled to stop anyone since the 2025 NFL season began. After talks of potentially being benched due to his poor play, quarterback Justin Fields stepped up big time with the way that he threw the football along with bringing his rushing ability that makes him such a dangerous dual-threat.

Fields wasn’t alone with the offensive production as the Jets saw running back Breece Hall break through after a couple of down weeks running the football and the team has been waiting for him to show how good he can be when he gets rolling. Ultimately, the Jets did what they needed to do to get their first win of the season.

With that, here is Jets Wire’s stock report following Sunday’s win:

As mentioned above, Fields was potentially in danger of losing his game to Tyrod Taylor given what the Jets looked like last week. However, due to Taylor’s injury keeping him out of the lineup, Fields continued to start and in this game, he showed why he should continue to be the starter even with a healthy Taylor as he racked up 244 passing yards and one touchdown while notching 31 rushing yards.

With Garrett Wilson unable to play for the second straight week due to an injury and Josh Reynolds on IR, the Jets were looking for other players, notably a veteran like Lazard. However, despite players like Tyler Johnson and Mason Taylor stepping up, Lazard was only able to catch one of his two targets for five yards, not something that New York wants to see from the veteran pass-catcher.

Despite having to go against the likes of Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, Brownlee held his own within a Jets secondary that needed plays to be made if they were going to beat a high-powered Bengals offense. Brownlee not only picked up seven tackles (four solo), he also put up two pass deflections, showing how well-rounded his game was when the Jets needed him.

Stock Down: DT Quinnen WilliamsNew York Jets defensive lineman Quinnen Williams (95) warms up before a game against the Carolina Panthers at MetLife Stadium, Oct 19, 2025, East Rutherford, NJ, USA.

Williams is one of the best players not only on the Jets’ defense, but on the entire team, and yet, he didn’t play like it against a Bengals team that has had some issues protecting the quarterback over the years. Granted, part of Williams’ job is taking up space on the interior to allow some of his teammates to make plays, but one tackle is just not enough from Williams.

It wouldn’t be National TE Day if Mason Taylor didn’t get his place in this piece for how he stepped up for his team when plays needed to be made. As mentioned earlier in this article, Garrett Wilson and Josh Reynolds were unavailable, meaning that Taylor catching five of his eight targets for 34 yards and one touchdown was just what New York needed to win.

Davis has mostly been on the shelf as he played behind Breece Hall and Braelon Allen, but with Allen out of the picture due to an injury, Davis has more runway to make plays like he did on Sunday against the Bengals. Davis ran the ball seven times for 65 yards (including a 50-yard sprint) and he caught all five of his targets for 44 yards, demonstrating his versatility as a running back.
