Zohran Mamdani made a cameo at PinkPantheress‘s New York show over the weekend.
In footage shared by Billboard, the Democratic mayoral nominee was greeted with loud applause when he appeared on a large screen behind the UK artist at Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre last Saturday, October 25th. The words “Our Time Has Come” and “Vote Nov. 4” were written on his hands, in reference to the date of the upcoming mayoral election. PinkPantheress could then be seen writing the words “We ♡ You” on her own hands, before placing them in front of the camera.
It’s not the first time that an electronic artist has expressed support for Mamdani, a democratic socialist and fierce opponent of the genocide in Gaza. Avalon Emerson sampled a section of one of his speeches during a set at Brooklyn club Nowadays in June, and the likes of Jubilee, Yaeji and Yumi all celebrated his victory in the Democratic mayoral primary later that month.
