MANHATTAN, Kan. (KCTV) – One of the top scorers for K-State this past season is on his way to the transfer portal.
According to a report from On3’s Joe Tipton, sophomore guard David Castillo will not return to Manhattan for his junior season.
Castillo, the highest-rated high school signee for the Wildcats during the Jerome Tang era, averaged 10.3 points per game for K-State as the Wildcats went 12-20 in 2025-26. That trailed P.J. Haggerty and Nate Johnson for third-most among the Wildcats.

The Bartlesville, Oklahoma, native shot 40% from the floor and 35.2% from 3-point range.
He will not remain with the Wildcats as new head coach Casey Alexander takes over the lead in Manhattan.
Castillo is the second player from K-State’s 2025-26 team to enter the transfer portal, joining Stephen Osei.
