FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Manhattan Jaspers women’s lacrosse team (2-12, 1-4 MAAC), despite a hat trick from Lauren Maher, lost its MAAC contest to the Stags of Fairfield (10-3, 5-0 MAAC) by a final score of 18-5 at Rafferty Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Fairfield didn’t take long to get the scoring started, striking twice less than 70 seconds into the contest.
Lauren Maher and Ella Brunette each notched a goal of their own in roughly a minute and a half around halfway through the first quarter to knot the game up at two-all.
The Stags then ripped off four consecutive goals before the end of the first, with three coming off the stick of Haley Burns.
Following up their act to kick off the second, the lead for the hosts quickly bloomed to eight after the fourth of the quarter was scored just past six minutes in.
Maher tallied her second before the Jaspers went to the locker room facing a 12-3 deficit.
While the third quarter remained mainly uneventful for the visitors, Sofia Best scored off a feed from Moira Marcozzi with under three minutes to play.
Before the game came to a close, Maher capitalized off the pass from Ella Hirsch to net her third goal of the afternoon.
