Manhattan High School took the season opening tennis match at Abilene High School Thursday afternoon.
Manhattan’s Eli White went 3-0 in number two doubles and the number one doubles team of Luke Nichols, Benjamin Lee won the number one doubles competition. The number two doubles combo of Henry Byerly and Jackson Peschel also finished 3-0 for the win.
Clay Center High School, who finished second in team standings at the Abilene Quad took the title in number one singles at Eli Pfizenmaier won three matches to secure the win.
Abilene’s number one doubles pair of Thad Pekarek and Jonavin Robinson won matches over Clay Center and Maysville for second place finish. Brandon Sims won a match in number one singles, and Christian Garcia finished 2-1 in two singles. Zane Issitt and Mahthius Tate competed as the Cowboys number two doubles team.
