Daniel Van Voorhis of Fishkill, Dutchess County, claimed the $2 million second prize on the New York Lottery’s Mega Millions game, according to officials.
Van Voorhis matched the first five numbers drawn on Jan. 23.
The winning numbers were: 30, 42, 49, 53, 66 and Mega Ball 04.
Van Voorhis chose to receive his prize in one lump sum of $1,299,163, after required tax withholdings.
Van Voorhis was able to double the standard $1,000,000 Mega Millions second prize due to a 2X Multiplier randomly assigned to this particular drawing at the time of purchase.
The winning ticket was purchased at Citgo Food Mart located at 650 County Route 1 in Pine Island.
Pine Island is located 46 miles north of Manhattan.
New York’s Mega Millions game generated $358,368,853 in total sales during fiscal year 2024-2025. School districts in Dutchess County received $54,202,913 in Lottery Aid to Education funds during the same period.
