The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday for heavy snow until 9:15 a.m. for Chenango, Otsego, Broome and Delaware counties.

“At 8:29 a.m., a band of moderate to heavy snow and graupel was along a line extending from Sharon Springs to near Sanitaria Springs and moving east at 30 MPH,” according to the weather service.

Locations impacted by the alert include Oneonta, Sidney, Walton, Davenport, Sanford, Worcester, Middlefield, Maryland, Westville and Kortright.

The weather service adds, “Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination.”
