A state lawmaker is pushing for answers after Veterans Affairs announced plans to close a clinic in Schenectady.
Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara says he’s filed a Freedom of Information Act request after federal authorities announced plans to close the Schenectady Community-Based Outpatient Clinic, located in the Hannaford Plaza on Altamont Avenue, in August.
Santabarbara has previously called to keep the VA clinic open and is seeking to know whether decision-makers looked at any alternatives.
Federal authorities have stated that they are working to transfer patients to other local VA sites, noting that most patients live closer to another clinic in Clifton Park.
