High-speed aircraft manufacturer Hermeus is relocating its headquarters from Atlanta to El Segundo, the Los Angeles Times reported on Tuesday.

The move comes as the company aims to build an autonomous hypersonic aircraft for the U.S. military, the Times said.

The company, founded in 2018, focuses on the design, build, and test of high-Mach and hypersonic aircraft for the Department of War, formerly called the Defense Department.

Hermeus currently has more than 275 employees across four different locations in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and Jacksonville, Florida.

The aerospace firm has already begun moving into its 67,000-square-foot El Segundo offices and is expected to take full occupancy early next year, according to the Times.

In addition to Hermeus, a number of other aerospace companies are either headquartered in El Segundo or have offices there, including Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and General Dynamics.
