Mayor Zohran Mamdani is receiving positive reviews as he marks his first 100 days in office, according to a Marist poll released Wednesday.
The poll, which surveyed 1,454 city residents between March 26 and March 31, shows 48% approve of Mamdani’s job performance, while 30% disapprove and 23% are unsure.
Meanwhile, a majority of New Yorkers, 55%, say they have a very favorable or somewhat favorable view of Mamdani, compared to 33% who hold a somewhat unfavorable or very unfavorable opinion. Another 12% say they either haven’t heard of him or aren’t sure how to rate him.

The poll also found a shift in how residents view New York City overall, with 56% saying the five boroughs are headed in the right direction. The number marks a sharp uptick from October 2025, when just 31% felt that way.
Support for Mamdani is strongest among Democrats, with 63% approving of his performance, compared to 25% of Republicans.
Geographically, Mamdani performs best in Manhattan and Brooklyn, where majorities (55% and 54%, respectively) approve of his job performance. Staten Island stands out as the only borough where a majority (57%) disapprove.
Respondents also gave Mamdani high marks on his personality and his leadership qualities.
Just under 75% say Mamdani is working hard as mayor, while more than six in 10 believe he understands the city’s problems, is a good leader, is caring and works to represent all New Yorkers.
A majority, 58%, say they trust Mamdani to make decisions in the city’s best interest, and 52% believe he is changing the city for the better.
The poll also found strong support for Mamdani’s handling of this year’s winter storms, with 65% approving of his response and 34% disapproving. Broken down by borough, 74% of Manhattan residents, 67% of Bronx residents, 66% of Brooklyn residents and 62% of Queens residents approved, but only 30% approved on Staten Island.
On his collaborations with Gov. Kathy Hochul, 60% of residents think the mayor has struck the right chord. A similar percentage, 59%, said they feel the mayor has a balanced working relationship with President Donald Trump.
