Flag Day, 2017, Bill is on the far left clapping as President Teddy Roosevelt made a guest appearance at the Forest Hills Gardens Flag Day Celebration in honor of the 100th Anniversary of TR’s famous speech made at Station Square in Forest Hills. Professor Coleman is seen here with then-Queens Borough President Melinda Katz and her son Carter Katz and Assemblyman Andrew Hevesi.
The Mens Club of Forest Hills conveyed the sad news that Bill Coleman, long-time member of the Club, passed away yesterday (March 31). Bill and his wife Edvige moved to Italy some years ago. Bill had been living in a nursing home in Florence. Bill’s sister-in-law, Angela Martin, said that Edvige and her children were in Florence with him when he passed and that Bill’s remains will be brought to their family’s hometown, Pacentro, to rest in a mausoleum on the outskirts of the town. Bill was a good friend to many and was very active in preserving the history of Forest Hills. His cheerful energy will be remembered.
