Fast food restaurant chain Raising Cane’s — known for its fried chicken fingers, crinkle cut fries, buttery Texas toast and signature Cane’s Sauce — is proposing the construction of a 3,500-square-foot building with a two-lane drive-thru, parking improvements and a patio for outdoor seating at 107 Wolf Road, according to a Colonie Planning Board meeting agenda. The project is set to go before the board at its next meeting on April 14.

The restaurant group, represented by Bohler Engineering, is proposing the construction of the new one-story building along with site improvements, including paving that would support around 51 parking spaces and the dual drive-thru, according to a project narrative submitted to the town.

The proposed restaurant would operate seven days a week: Sunday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. and Friday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 a.m., according to the project narrative. Around 13 employees would work per shift.

The existing building is currently owned by 107 Wolf Road, LLC, according to the project narrative. The one-story, 6,500-square-foot commercial restaurant building currently sits on a roughly 1.26-acre property with around 107 parking spaces across from a McDonald’s. The former Ninety Nine structure would be demolished to make way for the Raising Cane’s, according to development materials provided to the planning board.

The fast food chain is known for its Cane’s Sauce, “a top-secret recipe” using a “special blend of spices,” according to the company’s FAQ page. It’s a tangy, peppery, pastel orange-colored sauce typically served in 1.5-ounce cups that customers dip the chain’s food into. Some Raising Cane’s customers have shared their meals on social media, including TikTok, catching the attention of millions of viewers and sparking the idea of some to replicate the sauce’s recipe.
