1. Times Square protesters demand end to war in Iran
Hundreds of protesters gathered in Times Square demanding an end to a war they say the U.S. helped fuel, as a fragile ceasefire between the U.S., Iran and Israel shows signs of strain.
Demonstrators, including Iranian and Lebanese Americans, urged leaders to halt military involvement and prioritize diplomacy. While the White House expressed confidence in ongoing talks, critics remain skeptical.
2. Parents oppose plan to cut middle school grades at Upper West Side school
Parents at the Riverside School for Makers and Artists are pushing back against a Department of Education proposal to eliminate grades 6 through 8.
The proposal also includes relocating the Center School, a grades 5-8 program, into RSMA’s middle school building if approved. Parents argue the school’s struggles are tied to a lack of support, not performance by students or staff.
3. Pakistani man charged with plotting to attack NYC Jewish center pleads guilty
A Pakistani man pleaded guilty to a terrorism charge yesterday, saying it was a “morally reprehensible idea” to support the Islamic State group by plotting to use automatic weapons to kill Jewish people at a Brooklyn center.
Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, 21, said he answered the group’s call for Muslims to kill Jewish people by plotting to attack the Jewish center in October 2024.
