MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) — Over 3,000 bagpipers will take to the streets of Manhattan this weekend for the annual New York City Tartan Day Parade, the highlight of a week-long series of Scottish-themed activities.
Highland dancers, Scottish dog breeds, and more will march up Sixth Avenue on Saturday afternoon, starting at 2 p.m.

Actor Sam Heughan has been named the Grand Marshal.
“I’m honored to return to New York as Grand Marshal of the 2026 NYC Tartan Day Parade.. This event brings the local and International Scottish community together in such a powerful way, and I’m looking forward to marching up Sixth Avenue, representing my beloved homeland and nation,” said Heughan.
The parade runs from West 44th Street to West 55th Street.
The following streets will be closed at the Discretion of the NYPD in Manhattan:
Formation:
44th Street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue
45th Street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue
Route: 6th Avenue between West 44th Street and 55th Street
Dispersal: 55th Street between 6th Avenue and 7th Avenue
