The Boston Celtics look to clinch the second seed in the East when they face off against the New York Knicks in this series finale on Thursday.
We are in for a marquee matchup at Madison Square Garden when the New York Knicks host the Boston Celtics in this season series finale. The Knicks lead the Celtics 2-1 in the series after a dominating 111-89 victory on Feb. 8 in Game 3 in Boston. Jalen Brunson scored 31 points to lead all scorers, and Josh Hart added 19 points to help the Knicks take a series lead against their bitter rival. Jaylen Brown scored 26 points, but Boston struggled as a team, shooting at 37 percent from the field and just 17 percent from three. The Celtics are going for their fifth straight win tonight, while the Knicks are also playing well, going for their fourth straight. New York is three games back of the Celtics for the second seed in the Eastern Conference standings. With three games left in the regular season, it isn’t impossible for the Knicks to catch Boston. It all starts tonight, where they’ll need to win out, and the Celtics have to lose the rest of the way. That way, even if they finish with the same record, New York will hold the tiebreaker. New York looks for its sixth straight home victory, and the Knicks are the 3.5-point favorites to win tonight. It won’t help Boston’s cause that Brown and Derrick White will be game-time decisions due to Achilles and knee injuries, respectively.
