NEW YORK (PIX11) — It’s time to cycle safely, New Yorkers.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani and the Department of Transportation announced dates and locations for the city’s annual free bike helmet giveaways just before peak cycling season.
Since the program started in 2007, New York City has handed out more than 350,000 helmets to New Yorkers.

Trained DOT safety educators will be on-site at all events to make sure each helmet, available for all ages, fits properly.
Below is a list of where and when you can snag a free, form-fitting helmet.

April 11 (11 a.m. to 3 p.m): Russell Sage Playground, Queens
April 19 (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.): Sol Lain Playground athletic field, Manhattan
April 25 (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.): 1466 St. Nicholas Ave (between West 184th Street & 183rd Street), Manhattan

May 2 (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.): Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Manhattan
May 3 (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.): Holy Cow Playground (197-49 Peck Ave.), Queens
May 9 (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.): Crocheron Park (214-41 34th Ave.), Queens
May 16 (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.): The Parade Grounds at Prospect Park (45 Parade Pl.), Brooklyn
May 17 (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.): Spuyten Duyvil Playground, the Bronx
May 30 (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.): Prospect Park West Drive entrance, Brooklyn

June 6 (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.): Kissena Park Playground (164th Street and Lithonia), Queens
June 13 (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.): Hunters Point South Park, Queens
June 14 (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.): Tecumseh Playground (West 77th Street and Amsterdam Avenue), Manhattan
June 25 (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.): East 27th Street and First Avenue, Manhattan
June 27 (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.): Juniper Valley Park (80th Street and Juniper Boulevard), Queens
