State Sen. Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. will hold a pet food drive at his District Office locations in Middle Village and Woodhaven from Monday, April 13, to Friday, May 29. For this initiative, residents can drop off new cans and bags of cat food and dog food during regular business hours.
In partnership with The Lovely Beans and Puppy Kitty NYC, two non-profit animal rescue groups in Richmond Hill and Middle Village, respectively, Addabbo is encouraging constituents to donate pet supplies for domestic animals in need. Those interested can donate their pet food items to the following district offices:
84-16 Jamaica Ave., Woodhaven
66-85 73rd Pl., Middle Village

The regular business hours for each location are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday to Friday. Please note to call the Middle Village location prior to your visit to confirm it is open.
“Our goal is to help as many animals in need as possible and remind us that pet care is a long journey, not a momentary act,” Addabbo said in an online statement. “If we commit to it, we must honor the trust animals place in us and spare them the pain of abandonment that no creature deserves.”
Following the drive, the collected pet food items will be sent to both rescue groups, where volunteers and organizers distribute them throughout the five boroughs to help animals in need of nourishment. The groups’ respective missions are committed to animal care.

“Pets are family, and during difficult times, support like this means everything,” said Felicia Bownoth, president of The Lovely Beans, in a statement. “The Lovely Beans is grateful to partner with Sen. Addabbo to bring a little relief and a lot of compassion to families and their pets.”
Through community participation, the partnered event seeks to make a charitable contribution to the betterment of the city’s pet population. The collection of pet food items will also make a difference for struggling pet owners.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with the Senator on this crucial food drive,” said Meagan Licari, executive director of Puppy Kitty NYC, in a statement. “Our mission is to never say no to an animal in need. It aligns perfectly with the Senator’s commitment to our community, and together, we can make a significant impact in ensuring that no animals in our district are going hungry.”
