LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (KABC) — On the search for sensational slices of pizza, your submission sent us to New York.
Okay, not quite, because you can find the same flavor at Brooklyn City Pizzeria and Market in Laguna Niguel.
“It’s really about creating the sense of community,” owner Gus Floris said. “Everybody that walks through the door, we want to feel like they’re walking into our house.”
His wife, owner Margie Floris, said they’ve received unbelievable support from the community after starting their home pizza business during COVID.
Just this month, the Florises, who are originally from Brooklyn, celebrated four years of serving their South Orange County community in their brick and mortar location.
Pizza that breaks the bank? They say “fuhgetabboutit!”
For $10, you can get two slices and a drink with their daily special. One slice is between $4 and $5, depending on the pie.
There are plenty of pizzas to choose from, with cheese and pepperoni as top sellers. Veggie and specialty options, too, and a Sicilian pizza with a thicker crust.
Their calzones are delicious, and customers crave the Calabrian honey bomb wings, Caprese salads, chicken parm, and cheesecake, too.
“Okay, there have been a lot of conversations had about this cheesecake, so…” ABC7’s Rachel Brown begins.
“Uncle Billy’s cheesecake,” Gus said.
This Brooklyn City Pizzeria, now a pillar of the OC community.
“It’s always been about a love of food, you know, and cooking and entertaining for us,” Gus said.
“We really do come in with so much love in our heart every day. And I think that transcends into how people feel when they’re here,” Margie added.
The restaurant opens at 11 a.m. Tuesday through Sunday, and is closed Monday.
Brooklyn City Pizzeria and Market is at 30012 Crown Valley Pkwy, Suite I, in Laguna Niguel.
Thank you, Tracy Cunningham, for the submission.
