On Friday evening, the New York Mets will open up a series with the Athletics at Citi Field.
The Mets are coming off a 7-1 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks (on Thursday).
They continue to play without Juan Soto (who is on the IL).
B/R Walk-Off wrote (on April 6): “The Mets are placing Juan Soto on the 10-Day IL with a right calf strain
He’s expected to miss 2-3 weeks”

Before Friday’s game, David Stearns met with the media (via SNY Mets).
He was asked about Soto.
Stearns: “He’s progressing as we would expect. He’s moving around indoors… We’re optimistic this is not gonna be a particularly long-term absence right now.”

Soto had been batting .355 with one home run, five RBI’s and three runs in eight games.
He is in his second year playing for New York after signing a massive contract in 2024.

Soto’s Incredible MLB Career

Soto is in the middle of his ninth MLB season that also included stints with the Washington Nationals, San Diego Padres and New York Yankees.
The four-time All-Star helped lead the Nationals to the 2019 World Series Championship.
He also made another World Series appearance (in 2024) with the Yankees.

The Mets are 7-6 in their first 13 games of the 2026 season, which has them as the third-place team in the National League East.
They are behind the Miami Marlins and Atlanta Braves.
Following the Athletics, the Mets will play their next series on April 13 when they visit the Los Angeles Dodgers in California.
