When the holiday flavors start rolling into restaurants and grocery stores, it’s hard not to mentally jump ahead on the calendar. For Halloween, it’s always the pumpkin goodies popping up in August. And then the winter treats start hitting us just before Oct. 31 (if not earlier than that). So it feels like the Dairy Queen Holiday Treats Collection is right on schedule with all its festive goodness, and maybe it’s time to cue up a little Bing Crosby at home.
The holiday DQ flavors are already available in stores now, but the beloved chain does warn that they’re only available for a limited time. So, basically, when the ingredients to make these treats are gone, they’re off the menu until next year. Here’s hoping everyone’s local stores are stocked with enough to last us until Santa takes his Dec. 25 sleigh ride.
Brand new to Dairy Queen is the Peppermint Bark Blizzard Treat, which also happens to be November’s Blizzard of the Month. It sounds incredible with white and milk chocolatey layers sprinkled with peppermint candy cane pieces. Then it’s blended with DQ’s infamous soft-serve. Is there anything about that doesn’t sound good to you? I didn’t think so.

If peppermint bark isn’t really your thing, then the returning Frosted Sugar Cookie Blizzard, which is December’s Blizzard of the Month) should be on your radar. This one is that same iconic Blizzard soft serve mixed with soft sugar cookie pieces, icing and sprinkles for an indulgent treat.
Dairy Queen is adding another newbie to its Holiday Treat Collection with the Holiday Nog Shake. It’s described as Holiday Nog syrup blended with soft serve and milk, topped with whipped topping and nutmeg.

How Much Do the New Dairy Queen Blizzards Cost?
That really depends on the size of Blizzard you order, and always where you’re ordering, because prices do vary by location. But here’s how Blizzard pricing generally shakes out, according to the site Dairy Queen Menu, which keeps tabs on all things DQ-related.
What Is a Dairy Queen Blizzard, Anyway?
It isn’t a sundae, but it isn’t a milkshake either—it’s a Blizzard. What that means is it’s soft-serve ice cream whipped up with a variety of different mix-ins, depending on the type you order. And the dessert is meant to be so thick that Dairy Queen employees can serve it to a customer upside down—it shouldn’t immediately slide out fresh from the machine. In fact, according to Dairy Queen lore the company has a policy that if it isn’t first served to a customer upside down, they’re eligible for a free one on their next visit. Whether or not every location honors that depends on their individual policies, but it’s a fun thing to look out for on your next trip to DQ. It’s almost like ice cream magic.
