PIX11 News spoke with a resident of the building who said she was sleeping when the fire broke out. When the fire broke out, her mother started screaming and said they had to move fast.
“My mom told me to grab just my passport, so that’s all I have.”
She says her family has been notified that they have lost everything.
Another resident who lives on the first floor of the building says she doesn’t know how bad the damage is inside her apartment, and that she grabbed her dog and nothing else when she ran out of the burning building.
The fire was under control at around 5 a.m. Officials are investigating the cause.
