History

Noah Brooks registered three hits including a two-run homer and Sam Falace tossed 6.1 strong innings to win his second straight start as Siena Baseball took the series-opener from Manhattan 5-3 in Pomona.

Brooks reached base safely in all four plate appearances, with his two-run shot opening the Siena (10-19, 6-10) scoring in the second. Meanwhile Falace registered a career-high seven strikeouts, and retired 10 straight at one point in the middle frames.

Freshman Steven Ramirez broke a two-all tie with the go-ahead two-run double in the third. The Saints tacked on an insurance run in the fourth.

Andreaus Lewis hit a pair of solo home runs for Manhattan (11-19, 4-12) – his second of which rallied the Jaspers within a pair to lead off the ninth – but Ryan Lundari struck out three in the final frame to finish off an eight-out save.

Ramirez and leadoff hitter Matt Thorsen each recorded a pair of hits for Siena which snapped an eight-game road losing streak with their first victory outside the Capital Region in exactly a month (14-8 win at Stony Brook on Mar. 10).

The Saints will look to put a stranglehold on the series Saturday at 6 p.m.
