NEW YORK (PIX11) — A Special Weather Statement has been issued in New York City due to an elevated risk of fire spread, according to the National Weather Service.

The Special Weather Statement is in effect until 9 p.m. on Saturday.

There is a high risk of fire spread due to northwest winds with gusts of 20 to 30 miles per hour, combined with a drop in humidity.
