BROOKLYN — THE NYC SHERIFF’S Office towed 53 vehicles between midnight and 7 a.m. on Oct. 24 during an overnight “ghost car” crackdown across the borough, using license-plate reader operations, reports PIX News 11.
Sheriff Anthony Miranda said the blitz aims to “keep our communities safe, promote pedestrian safety, and remove dangerous vehicles from our communities.”
City officials say the improperly licensed cars pose safety risks and are linked to violent crimes; since 2022, more than 38,000 ghost cars have been seized citywide, according to Mayor Adams’ office.
