Traffic stop in Albany leads to arrest of 26-year-old for illegal firearm possession

Albany, NY (WRGB) — New York State Police arrested Kye Washburn of Schenectady, NY, on October 23 for criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and vehicle and traffic law violations.

The arrest occurred around 9:50 PM after troopers stopped a vehicle on First Street in Albany for a traffic violation. Washburn, the driver, was found with an illegally possessed loaded handgun inside the vehicle.

The weapon was seized, and Washburn was taken to SP Latham for processing before being transported to the Albany Police Department, where he was held pending arraignment.
