The MTA customer survey for Jamaica Station in Queens will remain open through May 8. Also, officials said the feedback will guide planning for the Jamaica Station project.

Meanwhile, Governor Hochul’s office says the state’s fiscal-year 2027 executive budget includes funding. That funding is for the planning phase. The station serves 200,000 daily riders. Those riders use the LIRR, AirTrain JFK, and NYC Transit subway and bus services.

Jamaica Station redesign and station connections

MTA officials said Jamaica Station is the fourth-busiest commuter-rail station in North America. It has not been upgraded since AirTrain JFK was integrated in 2003. The redesign is intended to create better traffic flow. It is also intended to reduce crowding. In addition, it is intended to improve connections among LIRR, NYC Transit, and AirTrain JFK services.

Funding and oversight for the Jamaica Station project

According to Governor Hochul’s office, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul designated $50 million in the state’s fiscal-year 2027 executive budget. That funding is for planning for the project. The MTA and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey are jointly overseeing the redesign effort.
