U.S. Rep. Grace Meng will join a number of elected officials to host a local “Passport Day” this Sunday to help constituents apply for or renew their passports.

The event, held in conjunction with State Sen. John Liu, Assemblymembers Ron Kim and Nily Rozic and Council Member Sandra Ung, will take place from 9 a.m. through 2 p.m. at the U.S. Post Office at 41-65 Main St. in Flushing on April 19.

The event has arranged several similar events at post offices throughout her congressional district over the past three years, with the upcoming event in Flushing set to be the first such event of 2026.

“With the summer travel season around the corner and local families preparing to take trips abroad or plan business travel, now is the time for Queens residents to address their passport needs,” elected officials said in a joint statement.

“We are thrilled to hold this Passport Day in our borough so that constituents have an easy and convenient way to apply for or renew their passports, and we look forward to seeing them at the event on April 19.”

Individuals must be a U.S. citizen or a non-citizen national in order to apply and must complete an application form at Sunday’s event. Postal Service clerks will provide on-site assistance throughout the event.

Constituents are advised to bring an original copy and a photocopy of proof of identity and U.S. citizenship documents if applying for the first time.

For renewals, applicants must bring their most recent passport and name change documents, if there are any.

Children under the age of 16 must apply with two parents or guardians using a DS-11 form and must provide evidence of U.S. citizenship. Their guardians must also show proof of their relationship with the child and present ID. More documents will be required if one or both guardians are absent.

Applicants are also advised to bring a color passport photograph taken within the last six months to the event. However, photos can be taken on-site for an additional fee.

Adult passports cost $130 for a standard book, with a $35 facility acceptance fee for first-time applicants. Children’s passports cost $100 for a standard book alongside a $35 facility acceptance fee.
