For years, New York state lawmakers have been going back and forth on the issue of allowing grocery stores to sell wine and liquor. This year, one bill was re-introduced by state Sen. Liz Krueger and state Assemblymember Pam Hunter to allow wine to be sold in grocery stores and another bill was introduced by state Sen. Luis Sepulveda to sell wine and liquor in groceries.
Late last month, Capital Tonight spoke with the National Supermarket Association about their push to allow these sales in stores like theirs.
On Monday, Capital Tonight was joined by by Michael Correa, executive director of the Metropolitan Package Store Association, which represents over 3,500 liquor stores.
