NYSARA says current actions being taken by the federal government have moved them to endorse the trio.
“NYSARA does not make endorsements lightly and with current federal actions putting basic human decency, the norms of the U.S. Constitution and our democratic values at serious risk, we are compelled to stand strong with leaders who have demonstrated commitment and integrity on behalf of all New Yorkers,” NYSARA President Barry Kaufmann said.
“Together, our partnership has been able to deliver real investments to ensure that older New Yorkers can stay in their homes, access the care they need, and retire with the peace of mind they’ve earned. I’m proud to stand with NYSARA as we keep fighting to deliver for them every single day,” Gov. Hochul said.
NYSARA represents more than 600k retirees across the state from multiple unions, including New York State United Teachers, CSEA, Public Employees Federation and the New York State Nurses Association. The organization said Gov. Hochul’s dedication to the well-being of older New Yorkers and the affordability of housing and health care resonates with its members.

NYSARA says AG James’s work to stop consumer fraud as well as her fight against “misguided federal policies” and government overreach undermining civil rights and Comptroller DiNapoli’s work on the New York State Retirement System also aligned with the concerns of its members.
