At CinemaCon 2026, Sony debuted exclusive footage from the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the fourth solo film starring Tom Holland as the web-slinging superhero. The scenes show the impact of the memory-wiping spell from the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, with Peter Parker navigating a world where his girlfriend MJ and best friend Ned no longer know he is Spider-Man.

Why it matters

The new Spider-Man film promises to be the most emotional and mature entry in the franchise yet, as Peter grapples with the consequences of Doctor Strange’s spell and tries to rebuild relationships with those closest to him. The footage teases a more grown-up, college-aged Peter dealing with the fallout from the previous movie’s events.

The details

The footage opens with Peter following Ned to a college party, where he discovers Ned has built a ‘Spider-Tracker’ app to try and locate the web-slinger. Ned also reveals he has narrowed down Spider-Man’s identity to two suspects: their former science teacher Roger Harrington and classmate Flash Thompson. When MJ arrives, Peter introduces himself as ‘Maynard’ to avoid revealing his true identity. Later, MJ tells Ned she turned down a job offer, saying ‘something is just telling me that I’m supposed to be waiting for something great.’ A new character, played by Eman Esfandi, then appears and tells MJ ‘You can’t save everyone,’ before they share a kiss, leaving a heartbroken Peter watching from afar.

The footage is from ‘early’ in the film, according to Tom Holland.
