Two fallen Central New York police officers received a tribute, including a monument, in Syracuse’s Tipperary Hill on Tuesday.
The Tipp Hill community organized the monument for Onondaga County Sheriff’s Lt. Michael Hoosock and Syracuse Police Officer Michael Jensen, who were killed in action in 2024.
A bronze statue of a kneeling officer with a folded flag was erected in the James Pass Arboretum.
“Monument now stands as bidding tribute to two men who gave everything in the service of others,” said Syracuse Police Sgt. Thomas Blake.
Two helicopters flew out at 9:35 a.m., including the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Air 1 and a New York State police helicopter.
Jensen, from Syracuse, was 29 years old at the time of his death. Hoosock, from Clay, was 37.
