An 85-year-old woman died in a house fire Monday morning in the College Point section of Queens, according to ABC 7.
Fire officials said the fire broke out around 5 a.m. on 26th Avenue. Video showed heavy damage to the home as firefighters worked to bring the flames under control.
Firefighters found the woman unresponsive inside the residence. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition but did not survive. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling the fire, which was extinguished within about an hour.
FDNY fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire.
