A deadly overnight crash caused a partial shutdown on the southbound side of the Cross Bronx Expressway.

Police said a 30-year-old man was killed in the crash, which occurred shortly after midnight in the left lane near Jerome Avenue in Tremont. The collision involved a tractor-trailer and two passenger vehicles.

According to investigators, the man was driving a Kia SUV when he stopped in the left lane for unknown reasons. The vehicle was then struck by a tractor-trailer. Moments later, the tractor-trailer was rear-ended by a Toyota Corolla.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured. The driver of the Corolla was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the man who died driving the KIA.
