CLINTON, N.Y. — Clinton Central School District Superintendent Christopher Clancy posted an update regarding the incident of threat at the district.
In the post, he assured the community that the students involved will not be returning to campus.
“The safety of your children and our staff is not negotiable. It is the only thing that matters in any decision this district makes, and that will never change.” Clancy said.
He also said out of care for the students, staff, and families, they will be closing school on Friday, April 17. “It is a decision made out of recognition that our community needs time to breathe, to be with the people they love, and to begin to process what has been an extraordinarily difficult few days.”
He added increased law enforcement presence at the schools will continue for the remainder of the school year.
He is also going to host a community forum.
“Our community deserves a space to come together and to be heard. We are actively working to organize a community forum and are coordinating with the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office to be part of that conversation alongside us. This will be a real opportunity for dialogue. Details on date, time, and location will be shared in the coming days.”
