An NYPD mounted officer galloped through Manhattan streets in pursuit of a woman accused of snatching a purse from a victim’s lap — with video capturing the dramatic chase weaving between cars and under scaffolding.

The incident unfolded around 11:06 a.m. on April 15 near West 72nd Street and Columbus Avenue on the Upper West Side, according an incident report shared with PEOPLE by the NYPD.

According to a criminal complaint, Felicia Field, 44, whom police described as undomiciled, allegedly took the purse from the victim’s lap before fleeing the scene on foot.

Video of the encounter shows the officer shouting “Stop running!” as he follows Field down the street atop the horse, later identified by the NYPD as Kelly in a social media post.

Field continued running, darting under sidewalk scaffolding and between parked cars as the horse moved through traffic behind her.

The pursuit ended when a bystander helped stop her, allowing officers to take her into custody without incident, according to police.

In footage captured by NBC New York, Field can be heard denying she stole anything, while another bystander yells at the officer as the horse moves through traffic.

“You’re going to hurt somebody! You’re going to hurt this horse!” the bystander shouts. “Stop! Get out of the street!”

Police said the purse was recovered.

Field is charged with grand larceny and false personation after allegedly providing false information to police in an attempt to conceal her identity, according to the complaint.
