Crime stats from Brooklyn Center Police Department for 2025 show decreases in several categories, according to Chief Garrett Flesland:

Graphic listing stats from Brooklyn Center Police Department for 2025:
violent crime down 21 percent, incidents with gunfire down more than 40 percent, weapons recovered in calls up 16 percent, robberies overall down 30 percent and home burglaries down 52 percent, and auto thefts down 51 percent.

Chief Flesland said his department in 2025 responded to more than 41,000 incidents.

He also said there are many ways the department is working with residents.

“Proud of the fact that we are intentionally trying to be as transparent as possible,” Flesland told CCX Cities. “Any community member can hop on that dashboard and they can really drive the information they’re looking for specific to their neighborhood, or time frame, or crime type.”

He also mentioned the city’s continued build-up of its ranks of block watch captains, a kind of neighborhood watch coalition among residents across as many neighborhoods as possible.
