SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — The Hamilton College Continentals took home the gold medal in the men’s varsity eight at the 2026 New York State Collegiate Championships on Fish Creek on Saturday, April 18.

Hamilton is ranked eighth in the Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association/Intercollegiate Rowing Association Division III Varsity 8+ Top 15 poll. Skidmore College was the only other ranked varsity eight entry at No. 12.

The Continentals finished in first place in their morning heat with a time of 6:36.560 and Army was the runner-up in 6:43.848. Hamilton cruised to victory in the afternoon’s grand final as the Continentals’ time of 6:56.730 was more than 15 seconds faster than their closest pursuer, which was Vassar College. Army ended up third (7:16.438) and Skidmore was fourth (7:17.080).

Hamilton also captured first place out of five entries in the men’s second varsity eight with a time of 6:49.850. Skidmore landed in second place (7:00.078) and Army was third (7:08.266).

The Continentals finished sixth out of seven entries in the men’s frosh/novice fours with a time of 8:36.893. University at Buffalo Rowing Club grabbed the top spot in 8:06.240 and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy came in second place (8:10.884).

Hamilton won’t compete again until the National Invitational Rowing Championships/NESCAC Championships on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass., on Sunday, May 10.
