BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A New York man faces federal charges after authorities say he defrauded a Vermont medical practice out of nearly half a million dollars.
Van Jackson, 38, of Queensbury, pleaded not guilty on Friday to federal wire fraud and money laundering charges.
Authorities say he defrauded a medical practice in Vermont of at least $400,000, including $68,000 that he allegedly wired into his personal bank account. He then allegedly used that money to pay a settlement with a medical practice in New York, where he previously worked and was accused of misappropriating funds.
If convicted, Jackson could spend 20 years in prison.
