LAKE GEORGE — A tour bus carrying students and chaperones from high schools in the Bronx crashed after traveling through an intersection and off a roadway in the town on Sunday morning, resulting in multiple injuries, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and American Red Cross.
A crash involving a tour bus near the intersection of Diamond Point Road and Lake Shore Drive was reported to the sheriff’s office’s Communications Center shortly after 11 a.m.
The sheriff’s office said the bus had been traveling east on Diamond Point Road and continued past the intersection, going off the road and striking several trees, an outbuilding, a boat and a vehicle before coming to a stop.
The bus driver and multiple passengers were transported from the scene to local hospitals for treatment to minor injuries, according to news releases issued by the sheriff’s office and American Red Cross in the Eastern New York Region late afternoon on Sunday.
A school bus provided by the Lake George school district transported the remaining passengers to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, where they were further assisted by the Warren County Office of Emergency Services and the Red Cross until alternative transportation arrangements could be made.
The Red Cross said the passengers included 17 students and six adults. The organization provided them with food, blankets and comfort kits with personal care items.
This is a developing story.
