What’s in Store at Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood
The Bronx Zoo is partnering with Fred Rogers Productions to bring Daniel Tiger’s world to life in a brand-new experience, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, that opens May 22 and runs through September 7. And yes, this is a world premiere; no other zoo or venue has done anything like it before.
What makes it worth noting for families with young kids is that it’s built around actual play, not just walking past things and observing. The centerpiece is a life-sized Neighborhood Trolley that kids can climb aboard.
There’s also a replica of the Neighborhood Music Wall, reimagined with sounds from real insects, frogs, and birds, along with a seek-and-find Nature Walk woven throughout the zoo’s 265 acres and 11,000 animals, and a station called Same & Different where kids can compare their own size and speed to actual wildlife. It’s sneakily educational, even for adults.

Live Performances Kids Will Love
Daniel Tiger and Katerina Kittycat will perform in an original musical show written specifically for this experience, following the characters as they explore animal habitats inspired by the Bronx Zoo.
Meet-and-greets with both characters are included, and for photos, there’s a walk-through Tunnel of Make-Believe with life-sized standees of Daniel and his family, plus a dedicated photo spot featuring the full crew: Katerina Kittycat, O the Owl, Jodi Platypus, Prince Wednesday, and their families.
Merchandise will be available on-site, including plush characters, Daniel Tiger ear headbands, Trolley figurines, kids’ T-shirts, and reusable water bottles.
The whole experience is designed to work for kids of different ages and abilities, offered fully in both English and Spanish, and every family gets a free bilingual activity book to take home.
