NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – New York City’s first-ever casino with live table games is set to open on April 28 after a long and contentious licensing process.

The casino, Resorts World in Queens, will have 240 table games and over 2,500 slot machines.

“New York City has never seen anything like what we’re planning for April 28,” said Robert DeSalvio, President of Genting Americas East, which owns Resorts World. The only insight available is that rapper Nas will attend the opening.

Resorts World was one of the first three casinos to get the full commercial license. The other two are Bally’s in the Bronx, expected to open in 2030, and Hard Rock Metropolitan Park at Citi Field. The Hard Rock and Bronx casinos will be entirely new complexes.

The Resorts World project is an expansion of the existing casino, which previously operated video poker and electronic table games.

The expansion will ultimately include 800 live table games and 6,000 slot machines, according to the company’s proposal.
