This OpEd was submitted by community leaders in Hell’s Kitchen — including former MCB4 Chairs JD Noland and Delores Rubin, block association presidents Christine Gorman, David Stuart, resident Brian Weber and the West 47/48th Street Block Association — encouraging readers to get to the polls and vote in the April 28 Special Election. W42ST welcomes submissions of OpEds on relevant topics for our readers. Please email phil@w42st.com if you have ideas.

We have an important special election coming up for City Councilmember in our district on April 28 — early voting started on April 18. Because of the power of incumbency, whoever is elected could be making decisions about our future for the next 11 years (three years of the current unexpired term plus two four-year terms after that). Under NYC rules, any registered voter in the district can vote in a special election, whether they are affiliated with a political party or are an independent.
