Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, which serve nearly 3 million New Yorkers, will not be going out in November due to the federal government shutdown.

Those who rely on food stamps in New York will get a slight reprieve as Gov. Kathy Hochul announced on Monday that $30 million in state emergency food assistance will help “soften the blow.”

Sue Lintner, chief of advocacy and engagement for the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, discussed the issue with Capital Tonight.
