With spring in full swing, Open Streets programs across our neighborhoods are back in action, offering free, family-friendly fun on car-free streets. Whether it’s weekend stoop sales in Willowtown, outdoor dining on Hoyt Street, or epic views in DUMBO, there’s a car-free hangout near you. Brooklyn Heights: Montague Street

Sundays, 9:30am–6:30pm | Montague Street between Clinton St and Hicks St | Starting May 3 | FREE

Montague Street goes car-free on Sundays again this spring. Expect free kids’ activities, outdoor dining, and community events running through the summer. Save the date for Brooklyn Bridge Parents’ Spring Fling on Sunday, May 17 from 12–4pm — our own street fair right on Montague. Register here.

Brooklyn Heights: Willowtown / Columbia Place

Daily, 8am–9pm | Columbia Pl from Joralemon St to State St, Joralemon St from Hicks St to Furman St, and State St from Hicks St to Columbia Pl | FREE

Willowtown’s quiet, tree-lined Open Streets run daily and are among the most charming in the borough. Mark your calendar for Discover Columbia PL on Saturday, April 25 from 11am–5pm — the annual Open Streets celebration featuring local vendors Cloudy Donut, Laundry & Latte, Nako, and River Deli, plus stoop sales, a Willowtown Tree Walk, garden cleanup, dog run activities, and live performances by the Brooklyn Heights Players. Willowtown neighbors can reserve a free stoop sale space at willowtown.org.

Boerum Hill: Hoyt Street

Fridays, 6pm–11pm & Weekends, 11am–11pm | Hoyt Street between State St and Atlantic Ave | Starting April 24 | FREE

The Atlantic Avenue BID’s Hoyt Open Streets is back for another season of free outdoor programming, including fitness classes, live music, read-alouds, and Splish Splash Saturdays in the summer. One of the liveliest Open Streets in Brooklyn — worth the visit even if you don’t live in the neighborhood.

Downtown Brooklyn: Willoughby Street

Monday–Friday, 7am–5pm | Willoughby Street between Pearl St and Jay St

A weekday Open Street in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn, creating pedestrian-friendly space near MetroTech and City Point.

DUMBO: Washington Street

Monday–Saturday, 11am–9pm & Sundays, 10am–9pm | Washington Street between Water St and Front St

Washington Street’s iconic Open Street — with that Manhattan Bridge view — returns for another year. Enjoy the scenery, and soak in one of the most photographed blocks in Brooklyn. It will be from 11am to 9pm Mondays to Saturdays and 10am to 9pm on Sundays. No DUMBO Family Games this year, but the DUMBO Drop is still on for May 29.

Williamsburg: Berry Street & North 3rd Street

Berry Street between Broadway and North 12th St | Daily
North 3rd Street between Berry St and Wythe Ave | Weekends, 10am–10pm

Two connected Open Streets in the heart of Williamsburg — Berry Street runs daily, and North 3rd keeps the weekend energy going with programming near the waterfront.

Greenpoint: Bedford Avenue

Fridays 4pm – Sundays 10pm | Bedford Avenue between Nassau Ave and Manhattan Ave

Greenpoint’s stretch of Bedford goes car-free on weekends, running from Friday afternoon through Sunday night. A great spot for an evening stroll or weekend brunch al fresco.

Park Slope: 5th Avenue

Saturdays, May–October (excluding August) | 5th Avenue from Union Street to 4th Street | Start date TBA — check back soon

Park Slope’s popular 5th Avenue Open Streets is expected to return for the 2026 season, with Saturday programming along the same expanded three-block stretch as last year. We’re waiting on confirmed start dates from Park Slope Open Streets. In the meantime, don’t miss the Park Slope Picnic on Saturday, May 2, 12:30–2:30pm at the 4th Street Plaza off 5th Avenue — a free community gathering with live music and a dessert contest. Prospect Heights: Vanderbilt Avenue

Saturdays, 12pm–10pm | Vanderbilt Avenue between Atlantic Ave and Grand Army Plaza | Starting May 2, running through end of September | FREE

One of the largest volunteer-led Open Streets in the city returns for 2026 on a Saturday-only schedule, with new local operator Prospect Heights Open Streets, Inc. taking over. This is the first year in four without cuts to season length or operating hours. Past programming has included live music, salsa dancing, Sprinkler Saturdays, and free bike riding lessons from Bike NY — expect more of the same, plus new benefits for local businesses and the community.

Clinton Hill / Bed-Stuy: SaintJamesJoy Block Party

Saturday, April 25 | 1:30–7:30pm | Saint James Place between Gates Ave and Greene Ave | FREE

The beloved SaintJamesJoy block party celebrates its 6th anniversary with an afternoon of music, dance, and community on one of the most spirited blocks in the neighborhood. A Clinton Hill/Bed-Stuy institution.
