An accused hit-and-run SUV driver has been arrested for fatally striking a 20-year-old Bronx man who was on his way to the gym when he was run just down the block from his home five months ago, police said Thursday.

Enisman Jalloh, 22, is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and tampering with evidence in the death of Brandon Jose De La Cruz.

After the crash, Jalloh got rid of his SUV in an attempt to throw police off his trail, police sources said.

The victim was crossing the Cross Bronx Expressway Service Road near Ellis Ave. when he was struck about 6 p.m. Nov. 30, police said.

Jalloh, who was in the westbound lane, allegedly slammed his SUV into De La Cruz and drove off. Medics rushed De La Cruz to Jacobi Medical Center, where he died.

The victim was on his way to the gym when he was struck, relatives told News 12 Bronx in November

“We’ve been devastated because, it’s been difficult. Brandon was a good kid, full of life,” Rommer Jose, Brandon’s uncle, told the station at a small vigil set up for the victim after the crash.

De La Cruz’s outraged father, Medardo Jose, said his son was “treated like a dog” by the driver.

After a prolonged investigation, cops zeroed in on Jalloh, who has previously been arrested on a reckless driving and menacing case in 2024, officials said.

Jalloh surrendered to police on Tuesday. He lives about a mile from the crash scene.

The suspect was arraigned in Bronx Criminal Court Tuesday evening and released after posting $10,000 bail, court records show.
