QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — A large fire is engulfing a house and a local church in Queens on Thursday evening, FDNY officials tell PIX11 News.
Police received a 911 call reporting a house fire, which extended to the church at 6:46 p.m. at 27-21 12th Street, between 27 Avenue and Main Avenue.

A plume of hazy white smoke fills the sky in the area. Multiple fire hoses are being used by firefighters, who can be heard blasting streams of water to extinguish the blaze, according to a post from the FDNY on social media.
Over 50 fire units and more than 150 firefighters, and Emergency Medical Services are responding to the scene, according to officials.
At least one firefighter was injured, according to FDNY.
The New York City Emergency Management Department is urging New Yorkers near the fire to close their windows to avoid smoke, according to a social media post.
