Brooklyn Rice has been a big part of her Southern Nash High varsity girls soccer team’s success this season, making her the Farris & Thomas Law Student-Athlete of the Week.

Brooklyn, a freshman forward, scored the Ladybirds’ only two goals last week in a 1-0 victory against C.B. Aycock and a 6-1 loss to Fike. For the season, her 28 goals ranks eighth among NCHSAA 5-A players as Southern Nash has put together an 11-5 record.

The daughter of Sara and Brian Rice of Samaria, Brooklyn has a 4.25 GPA at Southern Nash, where she takes all Honors courses. Brooklyn has a leadership role in the school’s chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

She has been a standout in volleyball, cross-country, basketball and indoor and outdoor track and field for the Ladybirds this year.

Brooklyn is active at Raleigh Road Baptist Church in Wilson, where she helps in the nursery. She also babysits when the opportunity arises.

Brooklyn plays for the Wilson Youth Soccer Association’s ‘11 Rise girls team.
